Using Sign Language with seniors has been proven to:
· Increase Memory Retention
· Reduce frustration (also with hearing aids)
· Overall Well-being, decreasing Depression
American Sign Language has been referred to as the great “communication equalizer” when used to supplement and/or facilitate communication. ASL relies on gestures rather than words, and aids communication when our hearing and our words fail us. ASL is easily taught to seniors and staff alike and easily integrated into everyday care.
Healthy seniors are also interested in learning ASL, as it provides a new and challenging activity that stimulates the brain. Since ASL uses both hemispheres of the brain, it is a wonderful addition to any brain fitness program.
Cost of this presentation and brief introductory training is $90.00. If you would like to continue with 1 hour sessions, 10-week long curriculum-based course, the cost is $150.00 per participant ($15.00 per a week!). The cost for each participant can be significantly reduced with 6 or more participants.
